Who We Are and What We Do
Led by our founder and principal, Jacquie Ottman, considered to be the nation's foremost expert on green marketing, and supported by a network of some of the best thinkers on sustainability around the globe, we have helped over sixty of the Fortune 500, several U.S. government voluntary eco-labeling programs, and many entrepreneurial clients uncover new sources of value and establish competitive advantage.
We have helped our clients generate concepts for profitable new products and services ("eco-innovation"). We've guided them to strategies for positioning greener products and services in the marketplace. And we've facilitated their staffs to think creatively about how to meld the objectives of achieving profits with meeting consumer needs in a sustainable way.

Ottman Consulting bring over twenty-five years of experience advising sustainability leaders, together with blue chip consumer packaged goods expertise and rigorous attention to strategy to help businesses and other organizations meet consumers' needs sustainably.
Always pushing the boundaries of our thinking, we are currently exploring the power of such ideas as "responsible consumption" and "collaborative consumption" and lifestyle-based models that help people thrive while decoupling consumption from resource use—and we welcome new collaborators in this area. Our current focus within consumer packaged goods marketing and design is products made from biobased and renewable materials.
Pioneers in green marketing since 1989, our long history advising a variety of sustainability leaders allows us to bring deep expertise to every project we undertake. Not confining our engagements to any one particular industry, we are able to cross-fertilize learning across a wide variety of consumer and B2B product categories, enriching our engagements and enhancing our ability to generate new learning and insights.
How We Share Our Learning
Believing that those who teach learn, and compelled to share what we know for the greater good, we regularly share our learning through Jacquie Ottman's Green Marketing Blog, regular missives to our extensive mailing list, onsite and online workshops and trainings, and through a series of books on green marketing authored by Jacquie Ottman.
Ottman's most recent book is entitled "The New Rules of Green Marketing: Strategies, Tools and Inspiration for Sustainable Branding" (Berrett-Koehler, 2011, 252 pp). It was named by Cambridge University as one of the top 40 sustainability books of the year and is required reading in a number of graduate MBA and undergraduate curricula throughout the country.
