Five-Year Sustainability Planning in the Office Products Sector

Helped Avery Dennison, the office products giant, develop long-range sustainability plans for products in six business units: binders, name tags, writing implements, file folder tags, business cards, among them. Involved: research into composition, recyclability and availability of feasible alternatives to the various materials (PVC, PET, adhesives); in-depth competitive analysis; research into existing and proposed third-party eco-labeling programs for office products.

For each product category, recommended a short (1-2 year) and long term (5 year) program of product improvements and sustainability-related messages and claims. This initiative will help Avery Dennison participate effectively in the environmental merchandising initiatives of major retailers including Office Depot (GreenBook) and Staples (EcoEasy).
