Internships
We are seeking a part-time (21 hr/week) Administrative Assistant/Junior Consultant with the possibility of full-time employment in the future. Work closely with Jacquie Ottman, founder of J. Ottman Consulting and leading expert on green marketing and eco-innovation. We work in a small but very busy office, so the person who fills this position will have the opportunity to take on diverse responsibilities and learn new skills. This is a unique opportunity to gain exposure to ground-breaking projects and network with design and environmental business leaders in New York, the U.S., and internationally.
Responsibilities
Do you want to learn about "green" design principles, marketing strategies, green business opportunities? Do you want to hone your writing and presentation skills? Learn new computer programs? Interact with clients and get a glimpse at the consulting industry? Then, an internship at J. Ottman Consulting might be right for you.
We are always seeking dynamic and energetic interns to infuse new ideas and creativity into J. Ottman Consulting and our Design:Green educational initiative in eco-design and green marketing.
Interns are typically upper-level undergraduates, graduate students, or recent grads in the liberal arts, design, and business studies.
The internship has flexible, part-time hours, but we ask for a minimum commitment of ten hours per week during fall and spring semesters, and two to three days a week in the summer. We recommend a full-time commitment during January-only internships.
Currently, we have a great need for interns who have technical web design skills and can help launch fresh and creative sites for greenmarketing.com and designgreen.org. Specific experience with GoLive and other Adobe products using Mac OS X would be helpful.
Other potential projects include:
- Researching cases for the third edition of Green Marketing, now in development
- Developing a breakthrough interactive, web-based tool that allows companies to explore new business opportunities related to green product design and marketing
Students with prior work experience and a demonstrated interest in the environment are given preference.

- Interns choose the project(s) to work on to match their skills, abilities and passions. Most internships include some research of green products and designs in the marketplace, writing case studies, or helping to design and implement ways of communicating our content in various electronic media.
- What do interns earn?
- All interns receive a stipend intended to help cover expenses for commuting and lunches. The stipend reflects the length of stay, with a bonus for exceptional work.
- Who is eligible?
- Any motivated student with an interest in marketing, business, and the environment. Prior work experience in the environmental realm is preferred.
