Do you want to learn about "green" design principles, marketing strategies, green business opportunities? Do you want to hone your writing and presentation skills? Learn new computer programs? Interact with clients and get a glimpse at the consulting industry? Then, an internship at J. Ottman Consulting might be right for you.

We are always seeking dynamic and energetic interns to infuse new ideas and creativity into J. Ottman Consulting and our work in eco-design and green marketing.

Interns are typically upper-level undergraduates, graduate students, or recent grads in the liberal arts, design, or business studies.

The internship has flexible, part-time hours, but we ask for a minimum commitment of ten hours per week during fall and spring semesters, and two to three days a week in the summer. We recommend a full-time commitment during January-only internships.

Currently, we have a great need for interns who have technical web design skills and good communications and marketing skills who can help us launch Jacquie's new book on green marketing, due out in early 2010. Specific experience with GoLive and other Adobe products using Mac OS X, social media, publishing and publicity would be helpful.

Other potential projects include:

  • Writing web logs and articles using material in Jacquie Ottman's new book on Green Marketing
  • Assisting with exciting client projects

Students with prior work experience and a demonstrated interest in the environment and marketing are given preference.

What will I learn as an intern at J. Ottman Consulting Inc.?
You will learn first-hand how environmental issues are integrated into business, marketing and new product development. In addition to sharpening such skills as skills, presenting, internet research and telephone research, you will attend client meetings and learn from Jacquie Ottman's innovative ideas and strategies for developing and marketing green products. Participating in various gatherings of the green business and design community is a regular part of our office life, so the internship also offers exposure to a wide range of other green businesses and individuals working on sustainability in New York.
What type of projects do interns work on?
Interns choose the project(s) to work on to match their skills, abilities and passions. Most internships include some research of green products and designs in the marketplace, writing case studies, or helping to design and implement ways of communicating our content in various electronic media.
What do interns earn?
All interns receive a stipend intended to help cover expenses for commuting and lunches. The stipend reflects the length of stay, with a bonus for exceptional work.
Who is eligible?
Any motivated student with an interest in marketing, business, and the environment. Prior work experience in the environmental realm is preferred.
